Museum Tours

Guided tours of Galway City Museum should be booked at least two-weeks in advace by calling Brendan McGowan on (091) 532465. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and costs €2 per person (there is no charge for primary and post-primary schools). A minimum of 8 people is generally required to book a tour.

Ní mór turais a chur in áirithe roimh ré tré glaoch a chur ar Brendan McGowan ar (091) 532465.  Is é 18 an uasmhéid a cheadaítear ar thuras in aon am amháin agus ní mór do mhúinteoir a bheith i láthair.

Galway City Museum is an ideal place to bring a class on tour as we provide guided tours in Irish and English. Tours can be tailored to cater for all age groups. Guided tours must be booked in advance by calling Brendan McGowan at (091) 532465. Classes are usually split so that the child can gain as much as possible from the tour. The maximum number allowed on tour is 18, and a teacher must be present at all times.

Bus pháirceáil: Tá an Músaem lonnaithe i gcroílár an Mhúsaem (le taobh an Phóirse Caoch) agus níl láthair páirceála saor ar fáil.  Moltar páistí a fhágáil ag stad páirceála an Phóirse Caoch, trasna ó Jurys agus socrú a dhéanamh chun iad a phiocadh suas níos déanaí san áit céanna.

Bus parking: The Museum is located in the City Centre (beside the Spanish Arch) and does not have free parking facilities. It is advisable for buses to drop children at the Spanish Arch bus stop, across from Jury's Hotel, and arrange a pick up time for the same area.

Billeog Gníomhaíochta: Tá billeog ar fáil do pháistí, bunaithe ar na h-iarsmaí agus taispeántais atá istigh sa mhúsaem.

Activity Sheet: An activity sheet is available to all children, which is based on the objects, exhibitions and artefacts that are in the Museum.

Lón/Lunch: Ní cheadítear bia sna gailearaithe/Food is not permitted in the galleries.

Saorchead isteach do scoileanna ar fad.  Cuir 45 nóimead ar leath-taobh do thurais.

Admission is free for all schools and teachers should allow 45minutes per tour.

Tá foireann Mhúsaem Cathrach na Gaillimhe ar fáil chun dul amach chuig cumainn aosta gníomhacha ar fud na cathrach chun labhairt ar thaispeántais nó imeachtaí.  Is féidir le grúpaí turais a eagrú freisin tré glach a chur ar (091) 532465.

Galway City Museum staff are available to visit active retirement groups around the City to give talks about the Museum's exhibitions or events. Groups can also arrange for a visit to the museum with a guided tour by calling (091) 532465.

Imeachtaí Eile Leasmuigh / Other Outreach activities

Tá polasaí ag Músaem Cathrach na Gaillimhe chun áit a thabhairt do ghrúpa pobail agus sóisialta chun cruinnithe nó seoltaí a eagrú san áit.  Tá fáilte roimh grúpaí den chinéal seo chun teagmháil a dhéanamh leis an músaem i dtaobh seoltaí/cruinnithe a reachtáil anseo.

Galway City Museum has a policy of accommodating community groups and social interest groups that wish to use the facility to hold meetings or launches. Groups such as these are welcome to contact the Museum with regard to booking an event subject to availability.

Oideachas agus Imeachtaí  / Education and Outreach

Cuireann an Múseam fáilte roimh an bpobal chun páirt a ghlacadh i seimineáir, i gcainteanna agus in imeachtaí eile sa Mhúsaem.  Féach 'imeachtaí' chun a thuilleadh eolais a fháil.

The Museum welcomes the public to avail of seminars, talks and performances that are held throughout the year.  See events section of website for details of upcoming events.
