Galway City Museum’s volunteering programme is designed to inspire and benefit participants as much as it is to provide support for the museum.  Our flexible volunteer programme aims to provide an enriching and rewarding experience for all.

Research Library Administrator

We are presently updating the museum’s research library and need the help of a volunteer to catalogue all the literature into our library database.

The tasks for this role involve:

  • Entering and updating information into our library database
  • Organising all library materials into easy-to-find sections
  • General research library housekeeping

This role would be ideal for a volunteer who has or is looking to gain the following:

  • Excellent Organisation skills
  • Good time Management skills
  • Attention to detail

Duration

Short Term – 3 months

N.B. This is an ongoing role, duration is short term and will be renewed after every 3 months.

How old do I need to be to volunteer?

All applicants must be over 18 years old to volunteer at the Galway City Museum.

Do you offer Internship / Erasmus placements?

Currently the museum does not have any Internship / Erasmus placements available.

Do you offer Work Experience and Transition Year Placements?

Currently the museum does not have the capacity to offer work experience or transition year placements for students.

MUSEUM OPENING TIMES
Galway City Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday

Visitors will have access to both the ground floor and first floor galleries.  The second floor will remain closed until the new Sea Science exhibition works have been completed.  Admission remains FREE but TICKETS will be an essential requirement. By clicking BOOK TICKET on this page, visitors can choose from one of four daily time slots, 10am; 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm. Tickets will need to be presented as a printout OR on your mobile phone at the main entrance.  Visitors are asked to review the museum’s reopening guidelines on Eventbrite when making their booking.
