ILLUSTRATED TALK: The Galway Shawl

Until the mid-twentieth century, women in the West commonly wore the traditional the lightweight knitted or crocheted everyday shawl and the heavier loom-woven so-called ‘Galway shawl’. Join fashion-designer Lou Brennan as she discusses the shawl in a west of Ireland context. Afterwards, bring along your own Galway shawl and share its story.
