Ireland is renowned for its knitting and Galway is famed for its iconic cabled Aran sweaters. In fact, an Aran hand knit is currently on exhibition at the MOME (Museum of Modern Art) in New York, taking its place on a  world stage alongside more than a hundred items considered powerful and enduring examples of 20th century clothing and accessory designs.

Join Anne Ó Máille of Ó Máille’s traditional clothing shop for a four-week knitting course at Galway City Museum for those who have intermediate skills. Hailed as the Guardian of Aran Knitting’ by the Irish Times, Anne will lead participants from simple to more complex cabled patterns. Starting on Saturday 17 February, the course will take place over four Saturdays, from 10am to midday. The cost of the four-week course is €10, to cover the cost of needles and yarn. Places are strictly limited so early booking is essential.
